Customers who do not sign a contract for electricity are served by the Rate of Last Resort (ROLR). The Rate of Last Resort has replaced the Regulated Rate Option (RRO).
As of January 1, 2025, the ROLR is the default electricity option in the province of Alberta.
The ROLR is a fixed rate for the period of January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2026 and has been set at 12.699 cents/kWh.
As per the Regulation under the Electric Utiilies Act, included in the ROLR rate is a 0.1 cent/kWh Consumer Awareness Charge which will be paid to the Utilities Conusmer Advocate (UCA) to support initiatives by the UCA.
For members who remain on the ROLR rate, we are required to share your full contact details (full name, phone number, email address, and mailing address) with the UCA every two months. The UCA will contact you to inform you of your energy choices with Lakeland Power Co-op aside from the ROLR.
The ROLR Rate is calculated using the Board approved ROLR Price Setting Plan.
This rate is only available to members within Lakeland REA service area.
If you wish to sign a contract, Lakeland Power Co-op offers a Stable Rate Contract.
As of January 1, 2025, the Stable Rate Contract price is set at 8.85 cents/kwh for a one year term expiring on December 31, 2025 for all Lakeland Power Co-op members in good standing.
The Stable Rate Contract will auto-renew after the 12 month term at the rate set by your Board of Directors.

Lakeland Power Co-op encourages members who are considering electricity contracts to ensure that you understand the terms and conditions, as they are not consistent with every company. If you want additional information, contact the Utilities Consumer Advocate (toll-free: 310-4822 or http://www.ucahelps.alberta.ca).
If you have not signed a Lakeland Power Co-op Stable Rate Option Contract, then you automatically default to the ROLR. The ROLR is fixed for a 2-year term.
Lakeland Power Co-op offers a Micro-Generator Rate. This rate provides a fixed price for a specified period of time.

Lakeland Power Co-op's Micro-generator rate is offered at a price of 30 cents per kwh. It is intended that the start date be April 1 of the current year and the expiry of this offer would then be September 30 of the current year.
